Laura B. Lowry, a native of Texas, holds a Master of Music degree in vocal performance from the Conservatory at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a Bachelor of Music degree from Sam Houston State University. Recently, Laura took the stage as Helena (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) and Valencienne (Die lustige Witwe). Last summer, she entertained Austrian audiences as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro. Her other operatic credits include Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro), Belinda (Dido and Aeneas), Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), Venus (Orphée aux enfers), Célie (Signor Deluso), First Knitter (Game of Chance), and Little Red Riding Hood (Into the Woods). This summer, Laura will perform Valerie in Close Encounters of the Hillbilly Kind and the 2nd Quark Sister in Quantum Mechanic with the New Fangled Opera Festival. Meanwhile, Laura will also join the Lyric Opera of Kansas City’s Opera Express program for the 2013-2014 season. In addition to her music education, Laura holds a masters degree in mathematics from SHSU.
