As a director, Josh Shaw brings his distinctive artistic vision, formed over fifteen years of work in opera and music theatre and the experiences from over 70 stage productions. In addition to singing over 35 operatic roles, he has directed, produced, and overseen set and costume design for a wide variety of performances from concerts to grand operas. He is the Co‐founder and Artistic Director of Pacific Opera Project, a Los Angeles based company providing entertaining, accessible, affordable opera for varied audiences across Los Angeles.
During the 2012 Season Mr. Shaw directed and designed sold-out productions of Così fan tutte, Sweeney Todd, La bohème, and Trouble in Tahiti. In 2013 he is scheduled to direct and design productions of Il barbiere di Siviglia, Le Nozze di Figaro, The Mikado, and The Turn of the Screw with Pacific Opera Project, Il segreto di Susanna, Gallantry, and A Hand of Bridge for Chamber Opera Players of Los Angles, The Medium for Redlands Opera Theatre, Carmen for the Southern Illinois Music Festival, and multiple new works with The New Fangled Opera Company in New Orleans. He will also assistant direct productions at Opera in NEO in San Diego. In February of 2012 Mr. Shaw was the guest artist and clinician at the Arkansas NATS convention in Arkadelphia, AR where he gave a recital and multiple master classes to students from Arkansas colleges.
